Top 5 Hair Color Trends for Fall 2019

Bozeman, MT- Fall is here, well, it seems we skipped fall and went straight to winter in Bozeman! As the seasons change, wardrobes change, you might be feeling the urge to change your look too. Mia Bella Salon: Summer Hair Q&A!

It’s been hot in Bozeman this summer and our stylists at Mia Bella Salon want to make sure you’re protecting your hair while staying stylish and having fun! Here are a few tips and tricks from hot summer looks, to the best way to protect your hair color, as summer starts to wind down and we head into those warm fall months.
 
Question: I love swimming but hate what the water is doing to my hair! Can you help?
 
Answer: Wet your hair and coat it with conditioner before diving in or hitting the beach. This will protect your hair while keeping it moisturized.
 
Question: I invest so much in my hair color! How can I keep it from fading in the sun?
 
Answer: To minimize fading and dryness, spray UV-protecting hair oil like OGX Orchid Oil Color Protect Oil. It’s like sunscreen for your hair!
 
Question: Is it possible to look polished without picking up a blow-dryer?
 
Answer: Yes! The trick is to apply the right product for your hair type while your strands are still wet so they air-dry to perfection.
 
If your hair is straight, Matrix offers a great cream for a flyaway-free finish.
 
For curly hair, work in some Carol’s Daughter Pracaxi through your hair for bouncy coils without a diffuser.

Top summer hairstyles… Montana Style

Summer is officially here and it’s a great time to try something fresh.   Here are some suggestions to mix it up!

  1. Warm weather chop: Take off a few inches for a mid-length chop or up to chin length for a whole new style.  Advantages:  fun, edgy, less styling, stay cool, less tangling during activities like camping, biking, swimming. 

  2. Highlights: The easiest way to bring in the sunny weather is to lighten up your locks.  Adding partial highlights through the crown will amp up your look, or go for a full highlight to get the maximum effect when your hair is in a high pony tail or top knot.  Hello summer!

  3. Ombre: For a more dramatic and trendy look, go for lighter locks on the bottom half.  With weddings and so many events, it’s a perfect opportunity to try on something new and unique.   

  4. Bombshell extensions: Add length, volume, and so many styling opportunities!  Schedule a consultation to determine if you are a good candidate.  Treat yourself to the dramatic length you have always wanted. 

  5. Dramatic color: Platinum or fiery red are bold choices to start your summer off.  Stand out in a crowd and put a little bounce in your step by trying something fierce.

2019 Summer Hair Care Tips

Summer is finally here in Bozeman, MT and that means long days of hiking, swimming and summer fun! Just as the sun can damage your skin, it can also damage your hair. Ultraviolet rays can actually ‘cook’ and dry out your hair leaving it bleached, faded and damaged. Our experienced stylists have a few tips and tricks to keep your hair shiny and healthy this season:
  1. Start summer with a trim: refresh your style by cleaning up those split ends.
  2. Cover Up! Protect hair from the sun by wearing a hat or scarf. Try and also make it a habit to use products that contain UV filters- this will keep color-processed hair from fading.
  3. Give your hair a break from the heat: try to skip the hair dryer 1-2x/ week. A fun summer braid or bun or let your hair air-dry. Keeping your hair in loose, comfortable styles is not only stylish but good for your hair!
  4. Swimming Damage: Chlorine stripes your hair of its natural protective oils so switch to a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for the summer to help restore hair’s moisture.
